D3O Chief Product Officer

D3O has expanded its R&D facilities at their Head Office based in East Sussex with a new test lab, new prototyping facilities and additional hires to an ever expanding technology team.

The high-growth company has expanded its rapid prototyping facilities to support increasing demand for new product solutions from its global customer base. This includes the addition of a brand new test lab in an adjacent building which houses a rig specially designed to test high velocity drop tests, namely for D3O’s latest helmet liner developments for US team sports and military applications. The testing laboratory features a two-storey high impact test rig capable of testing higher impact velocities and energies in a controlled environment. This enables testing and development to new standards associated with North American team sports market (NOCSAE) and military Advanced Combat Helmet standards. It also opens the way to test and develop other helmets in different markets and applications. D3O is committed driving innovation in helmets and recently was awarded funding from the UK’s innovation agency, the Technology Strategy Board, to develop a new Shock Absorption Helmet System for soldiers to reduce Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI and mTBI) by mitigating the blunt trauma impact force caused by IED blasts.

International growth and increases in product and material offerings has enabled D3O to treble in size over the last three years and today supplies leading sports helmet manufacturer Schutt Sports, Furygan the French motorcycle brand, Burton Snowboards, Snickers Workwear as well as the US Special Forces with protection solutions.

Tim Brown – Chief Product Officer responsible for R+D and Operations says;
