Sam started racing at the age of 8 in a series of motorcross events before making the move to move to road racing. He won his first 125GP Championship race at Oulton Park, at the age of 15.
2009 saw Sam win the British Supersport Cup series, taking 9 race wins from 11 start and he also had the opportunity to compete in the World Supersport Championship at just 18 years of age.
He claimed the title of British Supersport Champion in 2010, gaining several lap records, three pole positions, and five race wins, including at his home circuit of Cadwell Park, and eventually took the title at Silverstone with a round to spare.
