Sponsored D3O rider, Remy Absalon, lived up to his reputation of being the ‘downhill specialist’ by winning his 11th Megavalanche.
The 22nd edition of the event involved 2000 riders across 20 different countries, all bidding to cross the line first in the 20km long race.
Prepared with his SCOTT Grenade Pro kneepads, Remy quickly took control of the race, being first to ride through the Glacier into the single rocky track.
I did a solid glacier to take the lead of this crazy race. I would like to widen the gap on my main competitors. What a tough race but the win is a huge satisfaction.
With riders working hard to make up lost ground, Remy responded by widening the gap in the middle of the race, leading into the more physical part of the course. For the final 10 kilometres, Remy never looked back, crossing the finish line in Allemont with more than 30 seconds on his closest rival.

It is the fifth win in Alpe d’Huez for Remy and his 11th in total (6 in Reunion Island). Remy will fly to Reunion Island in November to defend his title.
